Witch It is a multiplayer hide & seek game. Hunters are tasked with seeking hidden witches that blend in with the environment – if you’ve ever played “Prop Hunt”, then you’ll already be familiar with the rules!
Witches can mimic any physical object in the landscape to fool the hunters and survive. Hiding in a bedroom? Transform into a book on the shelf, a lamp on the end table, or even the bed itself! Hiding outdoors? Switch into a fruit and blend into a nearby tree!
Hunters are tasked with seeking pesky witches hidden throughout the map. Use your tools to locate and eliminate witches, such as your trusty chicken who yells whenever a nearby witch is detected!

Players are able to communicate with each other via Witch It’s in-game chat system, even if they are not your friend. For your child’s safety, we recommend disabling in-game chat in settings, under the “game” tab.

Witch It can be played with 2 to 16 players at a time.
Witch It includes a range of small and large maps to accompany all amounts of players.
Witch It can’t be played solo or offline.
The only exception is Creative Mode, where players can build maps and prop layouts alone or with friends – however, Witch It’s prop hunt gameplay requires at least one other player to function.
On the main menu, press “Play”, then “Custom match”. From here, you can uncheck “public” and even set a password to your match if you wish!
To trade Witch It items, you must first add your friends in-game. Press your nickname in the top right of the main menu, then press “add new friend” in the bottom right of the friends list. Type in the player’s user ID to add them. You can find your ID by pressing your nickname in the main menu, then navigating to the “account settings” tab.
Once your friend is on your in-game friends list, hit “collection” in the main menu, followed by “trading”. Here, you can create trade requests, view incoming/outgoing trade requests, and see your trade history. Press “create trade request”, then locate your friend on the list. You can then view your own inventory and your friend’s inventory, selecting the items you want to give and receive. Once you’re happy with the trade request, hit “send trade offer” in the bottom right of the trading window to send it to your friend. Accept, decline or create counter offers under “pending trade requests”.
Never trade with players promising non-Witch It items. All items should be transferred in a single Witch It trade. Please be aware of this advice to avoid being scammed by players promising real money, game keys, or other out-of-game items.
You can create your own maps in Witch It’s Creative Mode!
To access Creative Mode, press “play” in the main menu, then “Creative Mode”. Select a map template, then choose your host settings. You can create maps alone, or with up to 16 other players!
Once you’re in Creative Mode, navigate using your movement keys and hold right click to rotate your camera. Select props, utilities and structures from your menu on the left and then place them in your world. All controls for creating maps appear in the bottom right of your screen – the best way to learn how to build maps is to experiment with these controls!

Connection problems can typically occur by firewalls or antivirus software on your PC. In uncommon cases, the Witch It servers may be down – check #server-status on the Witch It Discord for the latest server information.
If you can’t find servers for your region on Steam, you can fix this most of the time by changing your server browser pings/minute. To do this, press “Steam” at the top left of your Steam Client > In-Game > Lower the value of “Server Browser Pings / Minute”. If you still can’t see servers, keep lowering this value.
If you can’t see your purchased DLC on your account, restart your game. If it still doesn’t appear, restart your Steam/Epic client (or your console), and make sure you have an online connection.
If you still can’t see your purchased DLC after doing the above, we can help! Reach out to the team on #open-a-ticket on the Witch It Discord, or via support@barrelrollgames.com.
A small number of players have reported that they have lost their level progress in Witch It. This rarely occurs with players who began playing Witch It around 2020-2021, but fortunately it’s easily fixable!
Reach out to the team on #open-a-ticket on the Witch It Discord, or via support@barrelrollgames.com and we’ll retrieve your missing level progress.
