Barrel Roll Games Community Update 2025

We know it’s been quiet from our side these past months, and we’re truly grateful for your patience during this time. A whole lot has happened behind the scenes, but we won’t keep you waiting this long again. Rest assured, we’ve been hard at work on planning Witch It’s future updates, preparing for the release of Prop Sumo, and working on our next major project which we will talk about today.

Witch It

Next year marks Witch It’s 10th year of development, and we’re really proud of how far our game has evolved! Over the years, we’ve welcomed over 3.5 million players, and it’s truly incredible seeing our community so active to this day. šŸ’œ

We’ve heard your calls for updates regarding long-standing community suggestions and quality of life improvements. Next year, this will be our primary focus for Witch It updates alongside seasonal events.

We’re first looking into long-requested quality of life features like being able to pick custom quantities for ingredient crafting, and adding search bars in places where finding things can be difficult (such as locating custom maps and browsing your inventory). We’re also exploring QoL improvements to Creative Mode, as well as adding missing props and utilities that you have asked for in the past.

Events are also receiving a much needed update, starting as soon as next week by making event ingredients obtainable on all maps, and next year we will trial reintroducing classic event formats (such as summer chests). Following this, we will continue to look into your suggestions and do what we can to improve Witch It in the areas that need it most! šŸ”§

Prop Sumo

Back in July, we ran our first playtest for our second game Prop Sumo, and we really appreciate all your in-depth feedback and support so far! 🄊

From your feedback, we discovered that Prop Sumo had a slight identity crisis, sitting somewhere between a technical fighter and a casual party game. As a result, we’ve made some significant changes to the game’s feel, opting for a light-hearted party approach over a combo-heavy fighting game.

Next week, we will be launching our second playtest for everyone to try! In this playtest, we have replaced prop modifiers and power-ups with 22 unique items that you can pick up within each arena. The items you obtain will be based on your position in the scoreboard, which we hope will result in more exciting matches and fairer gameplay.

We’re curious to hear what you think about these changes and provide us with feedback in the coming weeks before we prepare for the full release!

Project 3

Earlier this year while working on Prop Sumo, we were awarded a grant for our next major title… and we’re proud to announce that it’s been in full production for the past few months! šŸ—ļø

We’re not ready to talk much about our new project just yet, so we’ll leave you with this:
